Duca di Salaparuta Estates: the perfect terroir for each grape variety

From a sincere love of the land and continual pursuit of excellence come Duca di Salaparuta wines, unique expressions of their land of origin, one of the most evocative in Italian and international winegrowing.

A land with varied climates the ideal ecosystem for the cultivars that find their highest expression on the Duca di Salaparuta estates: Vajasindi, on the slopes of Mount Etna, Suor Marchesa, in the Riesi hills and Risignolo in the centre of Trapani province.

Each of them produces wines with pronounced geographical connotations, with a strong, original personality that is the expression of a terroir and a unique experience. Each of the estate wines tells the story of a specific terroir, the scene of innovative experiments and oenological challenges that have resulted in truly iconic wines.

Just consider Duca Enrico and its innovative spirit – the first Nero d’Avola varietal in the history of Sicilian wines – that comes from the Suor Marchesa Estate.

Or Nawàri, a Pinot Noir varietal of rare elegance that fully expresses all the distinctive features of the Mount Etna area and the Vajasindi Estate, the only one in the whole of Sicily to possess the ideal conditions for growing this grape variety.

The grape varieties cultivated on the estates produce a selection of wines that are ideal for unusual, intriguing pairings suited to every occasion, also in the summer.

Accompany a pleasant outdoor barbeque with a rich, full-flavoured Nero d’Avola such as Passo delle Mule from the hills of the Suor Marchesa Estate, which is excellent with red meats. Or pair fragrant red meats and mature cheeses with the eclectic spirit of Làvico, a Nerello Mascalese grown on the Vajasindi Estate on the slopes of the volcano.

Enjoy a summer aperitif with fresh fish appetisers to enhance the personality and unmistakable bouquet of Kados, a Grillo varietal of extraordinary structure that comes from the Risignolo Estate in the sun-scorched countryside of Western Sicily.
